GORIZIA GUITAR ORCHESTRA

In the scenic church of San Giorgio in Brazzano di Cormòns, the Gorizia Guitar Orchestra performs a programme for guitar ensemble and voice.

Gorizia Guitar Orchestra, an original ensemble of only guitars, was founded in 1990 at the Institute of Music in Gorizia and today brings together among its members the best guitarists from all over the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. Over the years the orchestra has established itself on a national and international level: it has given concerts in many Italian and foreign cities, won three first prizes at international competitions and published four CDs. Several composers, attracted by the delicate sonority and timbres of this instrument, have also dedicated some important compositions to the group.

The orchestra has always been conducted by Maestro Claudio Pio Liviero, a concert artist and teacher recently awarded the Silver Medal for artistic merit by the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella.

Surrounded by the beautiful panorama of San Giorgio Church in Brazzano di Cormòns, the artists of the Gorizia Guitar Orchestra will perform at the Piccolo Opera Festival with a rich and colourful repertoire that includes great masterpieces of classical music (from Vivaldi to Verdi), as well as modern and contemporary pieces by foreign authors, with some nods to Anglo-American rock.

The concert is preceded by a tasting of selected local products, served in environmentally sustainable materials, by Chef Chiara Canzoneri.
