Giacomo Puccini, one of the greatest opera composers in history, is celebrated for his extraordinary ability to weave unforgettable melodies with profound stories that touch the most intimate chords.

One hundred years after his death, the great Tuscan composer remains a central figure in the Italian opera tradition for taking the genre to new levels of expressiveness and popularity.

Many of his masterpieces have left an indelible mark on the history of music. Operas such as “La Bohème,” “Tosca” and “Madama Butterfly” have become milestones, beloved for their ability to capture the nuances of living and social contradictions through vivid characters and moving stories that betray the fragility and at the same time the power, not always benign, of human feeling.

The Piccolo Opera Festival pays homage to the creative genius of the Tuscan Maestro and brings out the absolute beauty of his poignant and intense musical narratives through some of his most memorable arias, here performed by Silvia Cortolezzis (soprano), Hiroko Morita (soprano) and Laura Stella (soprano).

The costumes of the three artists are designed and made by the students of the Biennial Course for Costume Design at Verona Accademia per l’Opera, under the coordination of the two teachers Lorenza Chiarini and Daniela Corso. The dresses are drawn from the opera arias and characters performed, and are inspired by the Art Deco atmospheres of the 1920s.

A grand closing for the 17th edition of the Piccolo Opera Festival, in the enchanting setting of the Verzura Theater of Spessa Castle.

The highlight of the evening is the traditional presentation of the Casanova Prize, awarded to prominent personalities from the world of culture, art and entertainment.
